SplitSmart ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Account information (email address, name)
  • Expense and transaction data you enter
  • Photos of receipts you choose to scan
  • Optional profile information (photo, phone number)

Information collected automatically:

  • Device information and OS version
  • App usage data and crash reports

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the SplitSmart service
  • Process receipt images using AI
  • Sync your expenses across devices
  • Send you service-related communications
  • Improve our app's functionality
  • Provide customer support

Data Storage and Security

Your data is protected using industry-standard encryption both in transit and at rest. Receipt images are stored temporarily during processing. If you save an expense, the image is stored permanently. If you don't save the expense, images are automatically deleted from our servers after 15 minutes.

Third-Party Services

We use limited third-party services:

  • AI receipt processing
  • Cloud infrastructure
  • Authentication services

We do NOT use: advertising networks, analytics trackers, or sell your data to anyone.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We only share data:

  • With other users you explicitly choose to share expenses with
  • When required by law

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Request corrections to your data

Data Retention and Deletion

When you request account deletion, we permanently remove your personal information. However, expense records in shared groups will remain visible to other group members but will display "Deleted User" instead of your name to maintain accurate records for others.

Children's Privacy

SplitSmart is not intended for users under 13 years of age.
